SI Well-Wishers from Various Countries Raised Money for Earthquake Relief & Rebuild Mission

May 21, 2015 – Kathmandu, A strong (7.8) earthquake hit Nepal in the area near Barpak, a mountain village between Kathmandu and Pokhara. The earthquake was followed by many powerful aftershocks and a very powerful one (6.7) hit Nepal on Sunday April 26.

 

The earthquake caused an extensive damage to thousands and more buildings, many peoples lost lives of their beloved ones and become forced to settle under the open sky. This tremor was also felt in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh with minimal loss.

 

Many historic buildings collapsed, temples have been ruined, and roads were also destroyed. Nearly 9000 plus deaths in Nepal and tens of deaths were in India and Tibet. The quake was followed by many aftershocks.

 

Solidarity International, the global coalition against poverty and inequality initiated Earthquake Relief Mission 2015 to support the Quake survivors.

 

The well-wishers of SI from various countries joined their hands to raise funds for the victims. During the campaign Ms. Oydis Raddum Wikmark (UAE) contributed USD 750, Mr. Bibek Khatri (Korea) Secretary of SI Global Council contributed USD 300 and Mr. Manish Rana (Canada) contributed USD 50 for earthquake relief mission in Nepal.
